Dear colleagues,

As workers from different industries and trades, we came together in June 2024 to form the Initiative of Workers’ Struggle (IKA- Initiative kämpfender Arbeiter:innen) in order to be able to fight for our own interests.
No one should have to put up with excessive workloads, arbitrary behaviour by bosses and wages that are not enough to live on - yet this is everyday life for many of us. We can only counter these conditions by working together.

How often are works councils smashed, rebellious colleagues isolated and dismissed, workers played off against each other and strikes torn apart in the press? At IKA, we want to stand up for each other in solidarity and support one another. We develop real power - against bosses, corporations and the state. Beyond winning or losing a collective bargaining round with the established trade-unions, our long-term goal is a society based on the interests of working people.

Specifically, we support current labor disputes in Berlin through press work, legal advice and various Educational Programmes. At the same time, we have social events for trainees and workers of all ages to get to know each other.

In Berlin, we work together with a number of cooperation partners,nwhich currently run neighbourhood commitees in three different neighbourhoods, as well as socialist organisations. As active trade union members, we are also active in the DGB trade unions, even if we often disagree with their political line.
